The first generators for the largest order in Siemens’ history are being sent to Egypt. At the Siemens factory in Muelheim, the two hydrogen-cooled SGen5-2000H generators are being loaded onto a remote-controlled transporter and driven to the adjacent port. A crane lifts the 756-ton cargo onto the barge. The barge will transport the machines, each of which measure 12.8 meters in length, to Hamburg’s deep-water port. From there the generators will travel via the Mediterranean Sea and the port of Adabiya to the power plant project in Beni Suef. As key components of the plant, the generators will have a total capacity of 800 megawatts.
