Siemens and Orascom Construction signed an agreement with Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity to rebuild Baiji 1 and Baiji 2 power plants in northern Iraq. The plants will have a combined generation capacity of 1.6 gigawatts when completed and are a major step in Siemens roadmap for rebuilding Iraq's power sector that has already added more than 700 megawatts to Iraq’s grid.

Siemens established a Regional Treasury Center to provide wholesale in-house banking services to Siemens subsidiaries in Middle East. The new center operates as Siemens Capital Middle East Ltd. from its location in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the international financial center in Abu Dhabi.

Siemens today announced that the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has awarded the company a series of five-year grid studies to analyze and examine the country’s transmission network, to identify the feasibility of deploying different advanced energy technologies.

Siemens and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity have signed contracts for 13, 132/33-kilovolt substations and the supply of 35 power transformers, to strengthen the country’s electricity transmission and distribution network. The new infrastructure will resolve energy transmission bottlenecks in Basra, and support a reliable power supply to more than two million people in the area as part of the implementation of Phase 1 of the Iraq Roadmap.

During two six-month assignments, they will work in different areas of the company’s regional headquarters for the Middle East.

Siemens, the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the Directorate of Health in Salah ad-Din Province have announced the completion of building repairs and the impending installation of Siemens medical equipment at the Al-Tawheed Center. The clinic, located in Baiji, has been fully renovated by the Ministry of Health and will be equipped with Siemens technology to provide much-needed medical care to residents of the province, approximately 200km north of Baghdad.

As part of its long-term support to expand Iraq’s power infrastructure, Siemens has received an order to supply gas and steam turbines and generators as well as long-term power generation services for the 840-megawatt (MW) Maisan Combined Cycle Power Plant, located in Maisan Governorate in the southern region of Iraq. Both CITIC Construction Co., Ltd., the engineering procurement and construction firm building the plant, and Iraqi developer Maisan Power Company (MPC), part of Raban Al-Safina for Energy Projects (RASEP), which is owned by Raban Al-Safina Group awarded the contract valued at more than 284 million euros to Siemens.

Siemens Digital Industries Software announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire assets of ESTEQ, a distributor of product lifecycle management, product design and simulation, and manufacturing operations software and services. ESTEQ is headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa, and has a subsidiary SAMATEQ in the United Arab Emirates, serving the Aerospace & Defense, Transportation, Consumer Products, Energy, Electronics, Machinery, Mining & Minerals, and Oil & Gas industries.

Siemens today announced that it has signed an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to supply the country’s first digital power transformer – Siemens’ Sensformer. As the world's first comprehensive digital transformer, Sensformer, is expected to increase energy reliability and efficiency for the Kafr El Sheikh and New Zagazig 500/220-kilovolt (kV) substations for the delta area, a highly loaded link of the transmission grid in northern Egypt.
