Dietmar Siersdorfer is CEO of Siemens Middle East and CEO of Siemens LLC United Arab Emirates since December 2013.
Based in the UAE, Siersdorfer joined Siemens in 1987 in Mannheim, Germany, as an electrical engineer and held various managerial positions in the Industry and Energy sectors during his tenure at the company.
For two years, starting 1997, he was located at the Siemens Southeast Asia headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, promoting the Industry Sector’s Digitalization business in the region. In 2001, Siersdorfer took over the global responsibility for Manufacturing Execution Systems within Siemens AG in Erlangen, Germany. In this position he focused on digital plant optimization, covering a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage, power generation, chemicals, automotive, and manufacturing on a global scale and particularly in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe.
In 2004, he was appointed Executive Senior Vice President for fossil power generation for Europe, Africa, Middle East and India. Two years later, he became President and CEO of the global fossil energy solutions business within the Siemens Power Generation division.
Siersdorfer is an active board member of a number of Siemens subsidiaries, including Siemens Electrical and Electronic Services, K.S.C.C, Kuwait; Siemens LLC Oman; Siemens SSK Iran; and Siemens WLL Qatar and Siemens Egypt SA. He has also held board positions for Siemens Ireland; Siemens Pakistan Engineering Company Ltd. and ISCOSA Industries and Maintenance Ltd., Riyadh/Saudi Arabia.
In his free time, Siersdorfer enjoys golfing, jogging and music in a great variety.
Alia Al Rifai is the Chief Financial Officer of Siemens Middle East and Siemens LLC United Arab Emirates.
Al Rifai assumed her current position on July 1, 2016, after almost two years as Senior Executive Vice President of Finance for the company’s Energy Management Division in the region.
Al Rifai, whose career at Siemens spans close to two decades, is leading the company’s financial operations in the Middle East, focusing on strengthening key growth areas, driving profitability and promoting diversity and local value creation.
From her base in Siemens Middle East headquarters at Masdar City, Al Rifai oversees key growth markets for Siemens in the region, including the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait. During this exciting time of development in the region, Al Rifai plays an instrumental role in driving expansion across different sectors, with energy efficiency and digitalization taking center stage.
In addition to strengthening the company’s portfolio and providing customized, innovative technologies to Siemens’ customers, adding value to society and contributing to local knowledge transfer are some of her key priorities.
Al Rifai started with Siemens as Commercial Project Manager in Damascus, Syria, in 1997. Since then, she has worked in the UAE and Qatar, covering different markets in the region and holding multiple leadership positions within the company, including CFO of Siemens UAE and Qatar.
Syria-born Al Rifai is a graduate of the University of Damascus. She is a strong proponent of diversity in the workplace, employee empowerment and ownership culture, and is also a spokesperson for Siemens’ Business to Society initiatives in the Middle East.
