The Siemens Middle East Headquarters at Masdar City was inaugurated in January 2014 and is the first LEED Platinum-certified office building in Abu Dhabi. Celebrating its first full year of operations, the building achieved a 63 percent saving of energy consumption and a 52 percent saving of water consumption, compared to a standard Abu Dhabi office building.
The headquarters building, which houses around 800 Siemens employees, is raised off the ground and constructed as a ‘box-within-a-box’. “When we moved into our new headquarters a year ago, I said it was important for Siemens to ‘walk the talk’ in the region,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE. “We inaugurated our new headquarters as a commitment to our presence in the UAE, and to set an example with our actions.”
Siemens has been operating in the UAE for more than 40 years and the new regional headquarters office at Masdar City is a significant milestone for the company. The move will strengthen Siemens’ presence in Abu Dhabi, complimenting operations across the emirates, and build on a strategic and valued relationship with Masdar and its shareholders.
